I now have 2 Nutri-Blast Greens Plus Nutrition\Protein Powders. One with whey protein concentrate and a vegan formula with more spirulina and pea and rice protein.
I don’t know if it’s the best protein powder around but it has a bunch more ingredients in it than your average mix and therefore a wider range of nutrients. Which from all reports can’t be bad for you!
It came about when I asked Rene (my son-in-law) a few weeks back, “I make some of the healthiest food on the planet and you are not eating one of my bars each day, why not?”
(OK, I confess to being a pushy father-in-law. But I do a great lamb roast and apple pie! Ya gotta take the bad with the good.)
He said, “I don’t always find it convenient to eat a bar. Now if it was in a powder...”
I said, “It shall be done!”
First I immersed myself in the formula spreadsheet, taking out those things I could not easily powder, like seeds, nuts, fruit and some herbs, and adjusting other ingredient quantities then into the laboratory, I mean kitchen, to make the first batch.
And he and my daughter have been taking it ever since.
So if you would like to add a high nutrition protein powder to your breakfast smoothie or sprinkle over whatever else you have for breakfast, give this a try.
People I respect tell me soy is not that good for the body so I have not included it as an ingredient. (Apparently the soy consumers that Dr Pepi sees are mineral deficient - soy leaches or prevents the absorption of minerals by the body. Which is pretty interesting. Many people are overweight and the mineral chromium has been found useful in maintaining an optimum weight. People who don’t have enough of it in their diet are more overweight than those who get more of it.
One of my mates sprinkles it on his breakfast-bix and he says it’s OK. Surprised me. I thought it would pollute the taste of his cereal. Another girlfriend of my daughter says don’t even think about mixing it in water or even apple juice. She puts it in apple and blackcurrent juice to mollify the taste. A friend of mine has it with rice milk, a raw egg and a banana.
