Valerian, Valeriana officinalis, is a root used in teas, capsules, or extracts, with an earthy, musky flavor. It’s widely used for its sedative properties, attributed to valerenic acid and other compounds. Nutrient data is limited, as it’s consumed in small medicinal doses.
