Nutrition Booster Bar


I am a modified perfectionist. I would like to make the most nutritious and most healthy food bar in the world. Trouble is, ingredients costing what they do, the optimal bar would cost over $10 and nobody would buy it.

So rather than being a perfectionsist with a great idea and no sales, I have chosen to be a modified perfectionist.

I want the Nutrition Booster Bar to be the healthiest snack in the world, I designed it to provide a ranges of nutrients missing from most people’s diet.

My ideal scene is that just by eating one of these bars each day a person could live healthier, live longer and avoid degenerative diseases predisposed, precipitated or prolonged by the current nutrient depleted food supply. The fact that they leave you feeling satisfied and give you an energy boost are added benefits.

The Nutrition Booster Bar is my top bar. It truly is Black Label Nutrition and provides the equivalent of Rocket Fuel for the body. It is my latest attempt to provide you with as many nutrients as possible in a single food bar. The peppermint essence is the first thing you notice on the palate before the other more subtle flavours. It is dense, filling and, according to this testimonial from a bike racer and swimmer, provides almost instant and lasting energy as well as reducing post exercise fatigue.

Just a quick note to let you know, my friend Tom Singleton and I went bike racing on the weekend and your nutrition booster bars worked very well.

We raced both days and I only took the bar on the Sunday after racing on the Saturday. Saturday I had another form of energy drink which simply had the opposite affect and I ended up dehydrated due to the appalling taste.

I had more endurance on the Sunday and less fatigue post the race. I only consumed one bar during the race in 3 parts, evenly spaced.

I am constantly on the lookout for improvements that I can make to my bars to make them spectacularly good nutrition and to get ideas on how to improve my own diet. To these ends I have subscribed to several health and wellness email newsletters that provide me with a fair amount of breaking news on the subject of how nutrition can prevent, mitigate or even reverse disease.

Antioxidant Data

I learned something really interesting and I wanted to share it with you. Apparently combining foods high in antioxidants is even more beneficial than eating them separately. From http://www.sunfood.com/MyPages/understanding-antioxidants.aspx comes this: “To be clear, based on the evidence supplied by Hort Research, superfoods like cacao and goji berries or cacao and acai or cacao and camu berry when combined in smoothies or snacks create a synergistic effect thus increasing the utilization of the antioxidants. This is one more piece of evidence indicating that the habit of combining unique superfood ingredients in smoothies or snacks is being increasingly validated by science.”

The fact that the Nutrition Booster Bar has Acai, Cacao, Camu and Goji all in together was a great validation of the individual ingredients ans well as the overall formula.

After developing the Premium Power Bar I identified 18 more ingredients that I would like to include in a super nutrient bar - Acai berry, Alfalfa seeds, Buckwheat seeds, Caraway seeds, Chia seeds, Chick Peas, Chlorella, Fulvic Minerals, Lecithin, Pepitas, Peppermint Essence, Pine nuts, Pistachio nuts, Probiotics, Siberian Ginseng, Spirulina, Turmeric and Whey Protein Concentrate.

So this Nutrition Booster Bar has those 18 more ingredients in it than the Premium Power Bar. (Those with an asterisk after their name are additional to those found in the Premium Power Bar.)

Given the health benefits attributed to the extra 18 ingredients, I cannot see how the beneficial effects from consuming it are not going to be substantial, but time will tell - stay tuned or let me know from your experience.

The addition of Lecithin makes this bar a little more oily than the Premium Power Bar. I added Lecithin after reading that regular consumption of it helps reduce fat deposits in the arteries. Unfortunately adding Lecithin to the recipe has the effect of countering the binding action of the honey, so this bar is a tad more inclined to break up at room temperature due to the fact I use no gums to bind the ingredients. I prefer to eat mine straight from the fridge when I am at home.
